Rackvernal School Ref: 08/00729/FUL
The Society has been concerned for some time about the state of Rackvernal School and its future. This building has played an important role in the life of Midsomer Norton since the 1830's when it was built but sadly has been allowed to become dilapidated in recent years. THE DEADLINE FOR LEAVING COMMENTS ON THE B&NES PLANNING WEBSITE HAS NOW PASSED.
In recent months we have worked closely with the new owners and arranged a meeting with local residents to review plans to restore the building to its former glory and give it a new lease of life as a hair dressing salon.
Overall the Planning Watch Team supports this application. We are particularly reassured by the new owners willingness to include our suggestions as well as their respect for the historical nature of the building. We also appreciate the rationale for a new third window and support this on the basis that it is to match the existing windows.
